Avidekel was one of the first. In a world where breeders keep coming with new hybrids focusing on THC, Tikun Olam is different.
As a government-approved facility in Israel, they are in the business of creating medical cannabis.
Hence, when they released this strain, the one thing that stood out was its CBD.
All over the web, a cannabis that has more than 8% to 9% CBD is touted to be good enough to be a treatment.
Furthermore, those levels are deemed very high. Avidekel, on the other hand, has twice more CBD.
Some recreational users who prefer to have psychedelic high may view this strain as unworthy.
In fact, it only comes with 1% or so THC. Yet, it is also because of the almost non-existent THC that makes it even more valuable for medical use.
Also, some people like the gentle high without any accompanying psychoactive properties.
Tikun Olam created Avidekel to be Indica-dominant.
They also have its opposite, the Sativa-dominant Rafael. Both these strains have up to 18% CBD.
These two, along with several others, were a result of years of research in a state-of-the-art facility in Northern Israel.
Besides scientists and researchers, they also employ experts in culturing, breeding and cultivating plants.
Avidekel was one of the earlier strains the company developed.
Several others followed over the years, and more will come in the future.

The combine Sativa and Indica traits of this strains deliver an uplifting sensation to its users. These then causes people to generally feel good and happy, with some even feeling elated. Although its effects appear to be mild, never forget that it comes with up to 18% CBD. As it helps in loosening and keeping muscles and the body calm, the relaxing effect it induces is not only soothing but also therapeutic.
Most people who use Avidekel experiences a reinvigorating feeling that lightens the mood. Even when feeling relaxed, it does not induce laziness. It is not also likely to cause a couch-lock. Hence, users remain productive if they so wish. In fact, it seems that doing tasks is better because most people also have a heightened sense of focus.
Fragrance
Avidekel not only has reinvigorating effects. It also has a refreshing, earthy odor with a nutty note that most people should find not only appealing but enticing. The aroma it emits is not pungent. It comes across as gentle and mild, and definitely very pleasant.
Flavors
Carrying over, the fresh earth and nutty scent is evident in its flavors. Add to that the lingering taste of sweet pine, and it becomes a delight to use. Gentle, smooth, and it sets the tone to the soothing, relaxing effects that are to come.
Adverse Reaction
Unfortunately, with all the positives that go with the use of Avidekel, it also has side effects. Some people may have dry mouth and eyes, especially when consuming too much. Hence, always stay within limits to avoid or lessen the symptoms of these inconveniences.
Other than that, and true to most strains Tikun Olam developed, there are no other side effects reported.
Medical
Using many other strains with dominant Indica sides, the price one has to pay for pain relief is the numbing buzz that is often associated with foggy mind. Avidekel does not cause any of that, and yet still is useful in giving comfort to patients suffering from pains and aches, as well as muscle spasms.
Thanks to its high 18% CBD, it is also an adequate treatment for epilepsy and seizure. Patients have the option of using drugs made using CBD, or they could use Avidekel and benefit from its other traits including relaxation and a gentle clear-headed high.
Feeling uplifted, most people also find it easier to manage stress, depression, and other mental health disorders including ADHD, ADD, and PTSD.

Growing
Tikun Olam has not made Avidekel available to the public for cultivation. So, the best that one can do is to buy them from their dealers and use it. However, if one were to somehow be in a position to grow this plant, it will likely have the same traits as common Indica plants.
It will thrive in warm or Mediterranean climates and grow well inside a greenhouse.
Flowering Time
Indoors
It will not grow more than 6 feet tall, and inside the house, it will not have trouble being kept at around 2 feet. Growers will want to trim the leaves to allow for more light to reach the otherwise covered parts. Flowering time should be between 7 to 9 weeks, and each square meter of the plant can have as much as 16 ounces of buds.
Outdoors
As mentioned, it is not likely to grow well over 6 feet. Instead, it will have more lateral growth. Once the buds start to appear, depending on its weight but in times when there is a good yield, support may be needed to keep the stems and branches from breaking. At best, the plant should be able to produce up to 16 ounces of buds.

Hi Pamela,
I’ve been using grind buds in capsule for two years now. I’ve had no problem, I take the capsules with food. I take (daytime strain)one OO capsule morning and afternoon. In the evening I use 1/2tsp tincture of a nighttime strain. I grow my own mj so I know it’s free of chemical fertilisers and insecticides.
Suffering very badly from arthritis in my hands, where conventional pain killers are useless, I am interested in medical marijuana. I have been told that simply eating the leaves can give relief without any side effects or unwanted “highs”. Which is why it seemed a good idea to me to grow my own. Anyone with experience relevant to this who could give me feedback? (I live in Israel.)
Pamela,
I personally would not eat leaves containing chlorophyll. Best way to for you would be to make coconut oil infused with Cannabis. It is edible. It is topical. You can cook with it or just take a tablespoon or rub it on your hands. There are also some new topical cremes coming out of California which help relieve the suffering of arthritis dramatically. I invite you to join our support forum, where I can show you some more information and how to make your own Infused Coconut oil. ilgmforum.com
If you join just tag me @latewood and I will find links to the information you need to read. You can also do a search for Cannabis infused coconut oil and perhaps there will be informationnavailable that way as well.
With kind regards, lw
