Monkey Paw was from Vietnam. The name came from locals ripping tight clumps of usually three buds off the plant crotch and stripping the stalk of fiber. Throw away shade leaf and use the fiber to bind the buds to minimize transport damage thru jungle. After drying they curled and resembled the limp hand of a monkey. The plant was PURE INDICA. Hollow stem with star shaped cross section. Grew about six foot tall with the dark, broadest shade leaf you ever saw. Jurassic looking. There would be a budding site at each node producing baseball shaped flowers intensely dense. Ripe, they would stick to a wall when thrown. I crossed it with Northern Lights #5. President Reagan and a task force harvested my stash of nearly 4 pounds of special seed. Then they put me back on the straight and narrow. Yeah Right!
