Ray Charles is one of the legendary musicians in modern history.
A pioneer of soul music, his records have sold by the millions. And, that is in spite of him being blind since the age of seven.
Information about Ray Charles:
Music is his greatest legacy, but most people today are not aware that Ray Charles also has a reputation for marijuana consumption.
In fact, he did not only smoke weeds, but he did so with passion. As such, it is fitting to have a strain named in his honor.
Ray Charles is a mostly Indica strain. Its breeder and exact genetics until today have remained obscure.
Nonetheless, there is a belief within the community that it is a descendant of the heavy hitting Afghani Bullrider.
It does provide some qualities associated with Sativa. Quite possibly, it is a trait taken from Romulan.
Although there is no proof that the strains mentioned above are, indeed, its predecessors, they do share similarities.
Both Afghani Bullrider and Romulan are incredibly intense and not typically recommended for novice users.
Ray Charles is a bit different in that its psychedelic high is not as extreme.
Still, possessing up to 21% THC, it does have the potential to knock out users long before wearing off.
Because of its sedating body high, the best time to use it is at the end of a long and tiring day.

Growing
Ray Charles is one of the most elusive strains for home growers. By all accounts, it is also difficult to grow. Beginners in planting marijuana may find it a bit more convenient outdoors.
Indoors, and in an enclosed habitat, it takes a bit of time and skill to prune and trim its leaves. As cumbersome as this task is, it is also necessary to ensure air circulation and maintain proper humidity levels. It may be a sturdy and resilient plant due to its Afghani heritage, but that also does not guarantee that it can tolerate a lot of stress.
Once mature, it produces dark green flowers packed tightly with the leaves. Peeking out from the thick frosty trichomes are bright orange hairs.
Flowering Time
Indoors
Ray Charles provides quick returns as it takes a mere 8 to 9 weeks to finish flowering. Once done, growers can harvest a hefty 10 to 12 ounces of buds per square meter.
Outdoors
In normal growing conditions where there is ample sunshine, the flowering period should not extend beyond mid-October. Each plant can produce up to 12 ounces of buds per plant.

Robert
Hitting the Ray Charles live sugar and sauce, and I absolutely love its flavor profile. If you take a really nice pull (low temp of course), and exhale. Then wait 30 seconds or so, and walk outside and inhale some fresh air afterwards, and the palette really comes to life. Nice smooth, mellow high, that leaves you in da couch, rather nicely.
