Made some good dry sift from some Somango buds, too. Great flavor. Potent too.
I got a freebie female Somango seed last spring. It got heat stressed after the first couple of months, outdoors. The leaves curled, and I almost gave up on it. The I repotted it, laying it down so the side branches would make big buds, and took it inside under a 2000 watt led. It made several ounces of the sweetest smelling bud I have ever seen. I love it. So I revegged it and it is now a mother, ready to be cloned. Getting everything ready. The aroma of the fresh buds reminds me of orange blossoms. Hoping to get a dozen clones this time.
I have a grow of Somango going. I ordered 5 feminized seeds from Nirvana Seeds. Two lived and I grew them for two months under hid cool spectrum bulbs indoors. I took six clones from them and put one of the donor/mother plants outside on Oct. 1. The clones were also moved outdoors on Oct. 1. They are two weeks rooted. One of the original females remains indoors under 24 hr cool light, as do 15 new clones in the humidity chamber. I hope to get to the point of having a perpetual harvest, or as close to one as I can get. Somango clones the easiest of any strain I have ever grown. I had a 90% success rate on my first attempt! And this is by using NO rooting hormone of any kind. IMO the gel does not work at all, and the powder is only half as effective as NOTHING.
The reason I wanted to grow Somango is because I heard it was a heavy oil producer and I does love me some oil! I think it is the elixir of life.
If anyone has any experience or tips about this strain I would sure love to hear about it.
I will post here again as the grow progresses.
Pass that pipe!
I had heat stress issues with my one female last year, or I may have given it too much nitrogen. It recovered, and after I harvested in October, I put it back on 24 hr lighting to grow again. It has recovered beautifully under the lights, and I am almost ready to start taking clones. I recently tried hormone for the first time w/o much success on a hash passion, so on my Somango, I am going all natural, the way it works for me.
Oh, and I see that there are still preflowers on the shoots, so I am going to increase the light to 24/0 for the next month at least, maybe until ready to gliwer
